All In: Reconciliation Week

All In: Reconciliation Week

All In: Reciprocity as Reconciliation

A Conversation with Kate Duncan about faith, indigenous issues and reconciliation – led by the TUC Social Justice Team

This Sunday our worship will be led by the TUC Social Justice Team as we acknowledge National Reconciliation Week as we reflect on the theme, “All In: Reciprocity as Reconciliation”. Our service will be shaped by liturgy and prayers from Common Grace, and the main input will be a conversation with Kate McLean about faith, Indigenous issues and reconciliation. Together we will be invited to listen, learn pray and consider how we might walk together in ways that are relational, mutual and ongoing. As Common Grace reminds us, reconciliation is not the responsibility of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples alone — it belongs to all of us. We hope this will be a meaningful and prayerful act of worship as we seek to follow Jesus in the work of justice, healing and restored relationships.

Reflection Questions

(Questions from Common Grace)

  1. Where do you see reciprocity – mutual giving and receiving – in your own life? Where might it be missing?
  2. Reciprocity involves both giving and receiving. Areyou more comfortable giving or receiving? Why?
  3. Reconciliation is shared work, not one-sided. How open are you to not only offer something, but also to listen, learn, and be changed?
  4. What attitudes or practices help you listen deeply, stay open, and grow – especially when conversations feel uncomfortable or challenging?
  5. When you hear the invitation to be “All In” for reconciliation, what rises in you – hope, hesitation, uncertainty, conviction? What might be behind that response?
  6. Why are humility, truth-telling and action all essential for reconciliation?
  7. What could it look like for you to be “All In for Reconciliation” – personally or as part of your church or community?
  8. In what ways might you or your church or community need to move from symbolic gestures toward faithful, consistent action?
