Loosen the Chains – Lent Bible Study 2022

Loosen the Chains – Lent Bible Study 2022

Lent is traditionally a journey of prayer, fasting and almsgiving (giving to those in need).  This Lent through this extended learning opportunity, we will prepare for Easter by focusing on these spiritual practices of prayer, giving to others and especially fasting. In Isaiah 58 God states that the kind of fasting that God desires is to Loosen the chains of injustice, to help the oppressed find freedom; to share your food with the hungry, provide for the poor, and do not turn away from those in need.  As we journey through Lent, lets consider the Lent/Easter narrative through the lens of justice and strive to work with God in making things right.

These studies are designed to be used as part of TUC’s Lent Extended Learning Opportunities. They will relate to the sermon preached during Lent on Justice issues and practical responses.

The following 3 Session Bible Study can be used either in groups or as individuals. There will be a Special Fortnightly Gathering held at Turramurra Uniting Church where we will use this material to go in depth with a large group of people. These will be held on Wednesday 9/3, 23/3 and 6/4. The plan for each of these three nights will be:
7:30pm Catch up & intro
8:00pm In depth teaching & large group discussion
8:45 – 9:30pm Small group discussion & Prayer

The main teaching session will be recorded and/or livestreamed on our streaming channels.
