Lent 2023 - Bible Studies

Our in-depth Lenten Bible studies series are happening again – three studies exploring the Good News of Easter from different perspective. Each study will include some teaching from Phil, videos, and groups discussion around the biblical text and issues raised. They were great last year and we hope to have the same level of engagement and learning this year.

The studies will be held on three Wednesday evenings during March (Wednesday 1/3, 15/3 and 29/3). The gatherings will be held at the church auditorium with a proposed flow of:

7:30-7:45pm      Gathering, catching up, warm up question

7:45-8:45pm      Large group in-depth teaching and small group discussions

8:45-9:00pm      Wrap Up & prayer

The themes for each study are:

• The Cross through the lens of Forgiveness & Fairness (1/3) – including a video on the purpose of parables; studying the text from Matt 18:21-35 and Matt 20:1-16; applying the text where we wrestle with the fairness of forgiveness; and a response/prayer time
• The Cross through the lens of Invitation & Choice (15/3) – including a video on understanding Messiah; exploring the text of Matt 22:1-14; applying the text where we wrestle with invitation vs inconvenience; and a response/prayer time
•  The Cross through the lens of Judgement (29/3) – including a video on understanding the End Times; exploring the text of the three parables from Matt 25; applying the text where we wrestle with whether God expects a return; and a response/prayer time
