Christmas Worship Services

Christmas Worship Services

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day have always been a huge time of celebration at TUC. We are so excited that the recent relaxation of the 4m2 COVID rule to 2m2 means that we can now 280+ people into our complex for our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day worship services! Even so, we are still holding two of each so that we can have the maximum number in both.  We should have room for all people who turn up, but it might be helpful if you still book a seat. It’s simple. Just follow these steps or go to www.turramurrauniting.org.au/christmas-howtobook

The main feature of our Christmas Eve worship will be a humorous play called “Christmas; Just Different” performed by many of our young people and young adults. The play tells the story of a director trying to retell the Christmas story using different movie genres with hilarious results – and finally discovering the core of Christmas is always the same, no matter how much things change. We will also have some musical items, a great short talk about the “Recipe for a perfect Christmas” and we will be finishing our time with a special rendition of “Silent Night”.

This year we are having TWO Christmas Eve worship experiences at 5pm and again at 7pm. They will be both LIVESTREAMED and also open to in-person worship

We are striving to make our Christmas Eve services as COVID safe as as funny as it seem, the best way to stay safe is to stay at home and watch the service online. As a church we prioritise your health, and so we ask you to consider joining us online.

However, you are still welcome to come along to either the 5pm or the 7pm service, as long as you have booked a seat. (Yes, we are back to booking seats because our numbers have been reduced under the tightening of restrictions). At this stage there are about 35 seats available for the 5pm service and about 70 seats available at the 7pm.

If you are attending in-person, not only will you need a ticket but please be aware masks WILL be mandatory, and you will need to show evidence that you have checked in before entering. Also we are back to “no singing” and we will be discouraging hanging around afterwards and chatting. But once again, I wish to affirm that worship is still open for in-person worship and you are most welcome to come along.

7pm Christmas Eve Livestream

We really want everyone to make sure that they are feeling the Christmas
Spirit wherever you are, so if you are watching online, you will need a few things:

  • A Candle to have nearby during Silent Night. If you wish to have a “fake” candle, drop by the church tomorrow and pick some up. We have plenty!
  • As weird as it sounds, a party popper … if you have one. I will tie it into my talk.
  • Susy and Annie have put together a way of “singing” silent night without words but rather with actions. Please have a look at their video beforehand so you can do the actions with them!

Our two Christmas Day worship services will be short family-friendly services.

Our 7:30am traditional service featuring traditional carols is no longer running in-person and will be available online at our YouTube channel or on the link below.

9am Christmas Day Worship – both ONLINE and In-person

The 9am Christmas Day worship – that you can either attend in person or watch live on our Facebook page – will include Christmas music, “show and tell” (a chance for people to show off their Christmas presents), a creative talk for the kids, our minister Phil will be speaking about the Joy that Jesus can bring us at Christmas and some special Christmas prayers.

In the same way as I explained for Christmas Eve – to be the most COVID safe as we can be we are encouraging people to stay at home and watch online. Once again … you are still very welcome to come along on Christmas morning, as long as you have booked a seat. At this stage there are about 40 seats still available for the 9am service.

If you are attending in-person, not only will you need a ticket but please be aware masks WILL be mandatory, and you will need to show evidence that you have checked in before entering. We really want everyone to make sure that they are feeling the Christmas spirit wherever you are, so if you are watching online, you will need a few things:

  • Your keyboard ready because there are some sharing questions.
  • Maybe even a photo of your presents for “show and tell”
  • Your thinking caps on … I will explain in my sermon.
