Christmas Lights – EP

Christmas Lights – EP

Introducing “Christmas Lights” – an unmastered Christmas mixtape from The Zeal Project, a group of musicians from Night Church.

Recorded Dec 9-23 at The Red Room and at Jonty’s place.

In lieu of the usual musical experience in the lead up to Christmas at TUC, a number of us decided to put our energy into something else that hopefully will bring you a fraction of the joy that creating it brought to us. This mixtape features a rearrangement of a Christmas staple, and two original pieces written by us.

Consider this an extra Chrissy present from us to you – download it, share it, it’s yours now to use as you like.

Featuring performances from Mackenzie Day, Alex McConnell, Ellen Prowse, Marty Cornford, Amy Kelfkens, Kristy Morgan, Wilson Drayton, Steve Koroknay and Jonty Cornford.

“Silent Night”

Lyrics:

Tell me where it all went wrong
And if I can turn it around
I tried to sing your advent song
But couldn’t make a sound
Didn’t sleep for a while
Was this waiting all worthwhile
Just come and sweep me off my feet
With your infant cries

What’s a year to the engineer
Of my salvation
Take away my unwillingness
For celebration

I tell myself I’m inadequate
But you say I’m worth it
You pull me out with your tiny hand
Did you even know it?
“Get up off your knees,
You are ransomed completely.”
What’s a year to the engineer
Of my salvation?

“…Worthy”

Written and arranged by Jonty Cornford, Kristy Morgan, Alex McConnell, Mackenzie Day and Marty Cornford

Performed by Jonty Cornford, Mackenzie Day, Steve Koroknay, Kristy Morgan and Marty Cornford.

Lyrics:

The lights won’t light up
My heart won’t open up
I’m not ready, I’m not worthy

It all went so fast
Your blessings got put last
I don’t deserve them
Can I start over?

I’m reaching out for you
With infant voice I’m calling out your name
(Stay right there, I’m coming)
A beacon in the night
The star will light the way to bring you home
(Stay right there, I’m coming)

The stars won’t come out
I can’t see past my doubts
I’m not ready, I’m not worthy

I’m still reaching out
With infant voice I’m calling out your name
(Stay right there, I’m coming)
A beacon in the night
The star will light the way to bring you home
(Stay right there, I’m coming)

I’m still reaching out but I can’t feel you
Maybe I’d have heard your voice if I’d have just listened
Through jaded heights and sleepless nights
Like a mother to a child
I know that you are holding me

(Hear us calling, you are worthy)

You meet me where I am
Without the words to say
Celebrating everything that I forgot to see
Ready to be filled up
I approach the saviour child
With assurance that I am worthy

The lights all light up
My heart opens up
Now I’m ready
I am worthy
